An unhurried childhood IS the revolution.
Our world is in a funny place at the moment with chaos, pain and division all around. It also moves at a rapid rate which is so far from how we are meant to live as humans, let alone as children. When we move at such a fast rate our integration of learning slows and our connection to others and self dwindles. Both these are so important to child development. We need strong connection and relationships to thrive and to grow our brains, alongside needing time to integrate our learning.
When we slow down, we make time for long conversations, revisiting play and learning avenues, an ability to follow our bodies internal rhythms and needs.
Carving out a slower childhood for our children isn’t just because it sounds nice, or easy or gentle, it’s because it is foundational to our childrens wellbeing and lifelong success. There has been various recent studies and research that backs this notion up and the need for slower, more intentional childhoods.
With hugs,
Alexa
